Musical Theatre

This Course will provide you with an excellent training in all of the techniques you will need for a career in Musical Theatre. An equal measure of Acting, Singing and Dance will develop your skills ready for progression to Drama School to study the subject at degree level. Your talent will have plenty of opportunity to shine through fully staged productions during the Season.

What will I do?

Professional commissions will provide you opportunities to explore, contemporary and classical theatre, ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance and solo and ensemble singing. You will work on established scripts and scores and have opportunity to create your own work. There are a myriad of theatre trips both locally and to the West End.

What can I do next?

After completing your Extended Diploma, you will be in a perfect position to apply for Drama School or University to study further. You will be trained in audition techniques and have practice auditions with top drama schools.

Is it for me?

The course is definitely for students with a passion for this most popular of art forms. If you love to act, sing and dance then this course prepares you for a career on the stage. You need to be driven, hard-working and creative.

Industry stats

Despite austerity the creative industries are booming and there are numerous varied career opportunities. Not just the West End but touring, cruise ships, hotels, theme parks all regularly recruit versatile performers. Musical Theatre gives you the broadest training for this type of work.

Typical careers

  • West End Musical Performer: £600 + per week depending on size of the role.
  • Cruise Ship Entertainer: £1,200 – £2,500 per month
  • Dancer: £450 + per week
