The music department is an exciting area within the college that allows students to develop skills in performing, composition and song-writing in an industry focussed environment. Staff are fully experienced in their discipline an offer a range of professional experience to support the delivery of the course.
What will I do?
You will regularly undertake the design planning, rehearsals and performances for a wide range of innovative shows. Alongside this, you will learn the techniques and skills required to be successful in the music industry, whether as an artist, performer, composer, songwriter or events and business manager.
What can I do next?
Our students go on to courses at institutions such as the ACM, BIMM, Cardiff Conservatoire and many universities. Out students continue in to jobs such as session work, teaching, events management, composing for film/games etc. There are so many pathways to choose…
Is it for me?
If all you dream of is music, and can’t imagine doing anything else with your life, then this course is for you. If you play your instrument in any spare time you have, write songs/compose, perform at every opportunity and want to know all there is to know about music and the industry, then this is the course for you.

I have studied music since an early age, working through specific instrumental grades, a degree, PGCE and MA in Teaching and Learning. Having undertaken numerous studio, performance, pit and live sound jobs throughout my career, as well as being versatile on numerous instruments, I believe I have the skills to inspire and motivate my learners to become the best they can be both musically and as individuals.

I have performed in venues such as the London Palladium and Her Majesty’s Theatre and developed music departments in various colleges throughout the UK as well as in the Faroe Islands. I have written books including ‘Learn to Play the Electric Guitar’ and ‘Learn Song writing’ and have been a resident session musician in Dubai. I enjoy performing and training the next up and coming stars of tomorrow.

Music and self-expression are extremely important for life and I push myself to reach the highest of dreams and goals. I don’t just teach, I do it. Writing, recording, performing and producing. My aim is to encourage young people to never give up on their dreams and to show them how to reach those goals, and to gain confidence in themselves.
